1.            COURSE OVERVIEW

The principles of Project Cycle Management (PCM) and the Log Frame Approach are the first and leading tools to aid thinking. These tools can be used in several areas of life, including on development projects. They are the instruments that help the transition from problems with solutions and, in turn, serve policy goals. 

2.            LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The course will be organized around two main learning objectives:

•           Acquire knowledge of the project design tools used by the most important donor agencies;

•           Be familiar with project monitoring & evaluation tools.

By the end of this course the participants will be familiar with the procedures used by the donor agencies to identify, formulate and manage development projects and will thus be capable of preparing successful project proposals.

The approach to the training program will be based on teaching blocks organized around the learning objectives. The hands-on approach is a critical method that will be used to share knowledge on how to design projects according to the EC aid delivery methods.

A Hands-On Approach – the training will take a pragmatic approach, focusing on the practical work carried out by participants.

Based on Assignments – the general approach will be guided by the ultimate goal of having a Log Frame Matrix designed by the end of the program. The participants will thus have to undergo a logical process involving specific assignments;

•           Selection of a project concept and analysis of its relevance and coherence;

•           Identification of the stakeholders involved in the project concept and selection of the target group;

•           Elaboration of the problem tree, taking as a basis the core problem to be tackled and preparation of the objectives hierarchy;

•           Preparation of the project’s Log Frame Matrix.

•           Elaboration of the Activities Schedule.
